Tasks may include updating/managing social media sites, managing online content and RSS feeds, bloggers/writers, etc. This is an opportunity to be a part of a growing movement that aims to raise awareness, educate and take direct action. We are about solutions to the growing problem of plastic pollution in our oceans.

Duration: minimum 6 months
Time commitment: minimum of 4 hours a week

Must Have:

Computer skills as described above

2. Assistant to the Executive Director
The Environmental Cleanup Coalition (ECC) seeks an energetic and creative individual with a love for the ocean and who is looking for the opportunity to truly make a difference and be a part of the team for positive transformation. Assists E.D. in the daily tasks of running the ECC. This would include a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to the following.

Tasks may include:
•    Email correspondence
•    Newsletter outreach
•    Database management
•    Field phone calls
•    Research assistance and footwork
Duration: minimum 6 months commitment
Time commitment: minimum of 10 hours a week

Must Have:
Professional presence
Good communication skills
Writing and editing skills
Basic computer technical support
Excellent organizational skills
Office management skills
Research experience
Be based in Santa Cruz or nearby.

3. Community Outreach Coordinator

To build relationships with organizations and groups we would like to strategically align with to form alliances. Be a part of a growing movement that aims to raise awareness and concern for the health of our oceans by seeking solutions to clean up the plastic in the North Pacific. Gain organizational, managerial and event planning experience while working with a diverse group of people committed to bringing the health of the ocean back into balance.

The Environmental Cleanup Coalition (ECC) seeks an energetic, creative 3rd or 4th year student with a love for the ocean who is looking for the opportunity to truly make a difference and be a part of the team for positive transformation.

Internship Duration: 6 months

Time commitment: minimum of 4 hours a week

Job Description:

This person is the ‘hub’ of the organization by initiating, building and sustaining relationships with other organizations, groups and individuals. It will also be crucial to create a system and streamline it so that anyone can step into the flow of the position once the internship is complete. The position requires the application of general office skills: typing, answering phones, emailing, etc. Some possible tasks might include assisting with organizing information, organizational calendar, etc., general office skills: typing, answering phones, emailing, etc. Including the locating publicity opportunities, possible partnerships and press releases, working with graphic artists to create posters, tickets, online banners and announcements–to keep with continued branding, delegating tasks, communicating with sub-contractors. This will be a fun opportunity to make a positive difference and bring your genius to truly effect positive transformation while learning more about yourself in the process and having a chance to work with a diverse group of people forming a grassroots movement.
